How to Make Tea

Photo by Manki Kim on Unsplash

Tilt the kettle, ‘neath the spout
Boil the water, ’til shouts
Pick the glass, with a copper trim
Check the steep time, maybe skim

Pick your pleasure, maybe two
Tie to handle, for the brew
Water over, shriveled leaves
Filter through your favorite sieve

Douse with honey, nature made
Stir in circles, soft as suede
Pause to watch the steam escape
Cover it, or leave a gape

Sip it slow, with eyes unopen
Hold on to that thing your hopin’
Exhale deeply, sacred screams
Drift into unbroken dreams
